LuckyMe are proud to present a new 5 track EP inspired by Deep Chicago & Modern UK House music, filtered through Machinedrum’s distinct palette.
This record is Travis Stewart’s most satisfying slab of dance music to date, sealing 18 months of consistently innovative releases since his Many Faces EP with us in 2010. SXLND was written in Brooklyn in the Summer of 2010 then leaked and rinsed via our friends on Rinse. Now tuned-up and engineered for 2012 these songs show the depth of Stewart in this genre. From the stuttering autotuned tribal stomp of SXLND and italo-sampling VAN VOGUE to the full bodied homages NO RESPECT and DDD this is black vinyl manufactured for the last hour of the club – from A1 to the last kik of B2.

Azealia and Travis go way back. She opened for us at 88 Palace in New York and as long as we’ve known Travis we’d been hearing bought this girl who could kill anyone on the mic. Last year she spent time in Montreal making some hits while whylin out with JG, ANGO & of course Lunice. Then she leaked “Runnin” with Lunice, which we included on our advent calendar. Well the last few months have been crazy for Azealia on the back of 212 blowing the fuck up. But she flew to Berlin to catch up with Travis, formulate a plan and found time to get loose on the SXLND instrumental. We did the art and hosted the files and to date it’s clocked 165,000 listens. But likely way more by the time you are reading this. All love to Banks. Go get em.

01.01.12 - We’re Back
As of January 2012, year of the dragon, we’re so proud to announce that our club is becoming a tale of two cities. Not only will our 100 capacity parties in Edinburgh continue Bi-monthly on the final Friday of the month – but it’ll be followed with a Glasgow show the following night. Together the twin nights will bring friends and family from across the globe to our home crowd.

13.12.11 – RBMA Culture Clash 2011
This night is a haze. A battle of 4 crews over 4 stages in an amphitheatre in Toronto on a warm September night. Part of the RBMA series of Culture Clashes we called upon Just Blaze, Hud Mo, Lunice & Rustie to hold us down. Up until the last round – we had it in the bag. We underdogs were kinda doing better than we expected considering Mad Decent brought a troop of 6 dancers and skerrit boy in elvis costume with lasers shooting from his wrists (I’m not joking). But in the final round the home team, Toronto Allstars took it – quite rightfully so in a year that Toronto hip hop defined itself at the top of the game. We held our own though. If we had to loose to anyone, glad it was them.

Another City Now is the debut ep from Andrew Gordon Macpherson aka ANGO – the next fresh voice hailing from Montreal. A frequent collaborator with Jacques Greene, Lunice & Azealia Banks, now is the time for him to step out alone.
Over this 6 track tale, written on the road whilst touring in January 2011, one hears late 80s pop, early 90s house and contemporary RnB rise in equal measure. Both producer and writer, this record casts a lyrically polarised selection of girl songs expressing the giddy way up and the painful way back down. But there’s something defiantly warm in ANGO’s music. This isn’t the morose electronic rnb that 2011 brought us. ANOTHER CITY NOW is a balanced record: upbeat and deep, vintage and yet totally modern, as heart aching as it is uplifting. Our tenth release is something special.

Six new tracks showcasing this kids dynamic, spaced-out trap music. This release has equal influences of Neptunes and Araab Muzik’s futuristic Hip Hop glow as the innovations and mutations of UK underground dance music. 01.08.11 - We Major
There’s a lot of new content to play catch up on now that we’ve got our site back. We were gonna keep the site down until everything was in place but we kept getting mail asking us for mixtapes etc. And then last week we had Ben UFO play our Edinburgh party and we all went for dinner at this legendary dim sum spot at Haymarket and I got a fortune cookie that said “Continous improvement is better than delayed perfection – Mark Twain” so I came home and emailed our programmer at 5 in the morning all drunk saying let’s just get the site live and make tweaks when we can. We’re just so busy doing the more important business of releasing records and playing shows. You know what’s next right? We got what’s probably our biggest party of the year – the Edinburgh Festival Party in Edinburgh on Friday 12th August with Rustie, Machinedrum, Nick Hook from Cubic Zirconia, The Blessings, Eclair Fifi, Nightwave, Bamboo Palace, Dema, Respite, Claude Speeed from American Men, All Caps, Local Action Records showcase with Tom Lea and Damu, 7VWWVW & KONX OM PAX all playing. And it’s only £5 entry with no advance tickets. Just show up at Cabaret Voltaire on the night. Should be crazy.
